Boat Performance Analyzer Help

About the analyzer

The Boat Performance Analyzer can be used for several purposes:

  • Calculating boat speed in miles per hour given propeller pitch, engine RPM,
final drive ratio, and estimated propeller slip.
  • Calculating propeller slip percent given propeller pitch, engine RPM, final drive
ratio, and observed boat speed in miles per hour.
  • Studying the effects of changes in propeller pitch, engine RPM, final drive ratio,
and propeller slip on boat speed.

 Selecting the analyzer mode

At the top of the analyzer you will find two radio buttons. One is labeled "Calculate MPH" and the other is labeled "Calculate slip". Click on either button to select the corresponding analyzer mode.

Entering values

When you first start the analyzer the minimum values are displayed in each text window. Across the top of the analyzer under each label you will find corresponding "drop down"lists. If you click on the small triangle shaped object in the right hand side of the box a list of common values will appear. Click on the value of your choice to make it available to the analyzer in the window below. If you need to customize the entry you may add to or subtract from the value by clicking on the the + or - button below the window.

Correcting entries

To correct an entry either select another value from the drop down list or use the + and - buttons to adjust the value.

The Enter Bar

Clicking on the Enter bar causes the performance analyzer to calculate using the values which are in its display windows.
